This month at Bizzy Becs the challenge for January is "Anything Goes." I have used a digi from the Once Upon a Time Collection called Strawberry Basket. I have teamed her up with chocolate and a bottle of West Australian Sparkling Malbec from one of our South West wineries by making a chocolate box tag that sits over the neck of the bottle of wine. A perfect present.

Here is a close up of the chocolate box tag. This was so much fun to make and got my inspiration from a whimsy tutorial that I found last year. The image is coloured using my Copic Markers.

Star Queen

I have used the Whimsical Going Somewhere Girl Alishba image, Christmas Star Stems and the flower from the Flower and Bees digi all coloured with Copics and highlighted with a touch of sparkle. Winter Wonderland

This week at Dilly Beans their challenge is Winter Wonderland. For this challenge I have used the Snow Family digi together with a Christmas Ornament digi that I got from TiddlyInks. I originally made this for Dillybeans challenge when the snow family was released but didn't have anything to use for the snow. At a local craft shop last weekend we discovered this awesome paint to use as snow (True Snow) so easy to apply, love it.

I coloured the image with my copics and am happy with the overall effect of the finished card.

Christmas

Can you believe it Christmas is so close, this year has just flown. I have made a start on my Christmas Cards some plain and some a bit fancy.

Recently I discovered Dilly Bean Stamps new christmas range of digis. Oh my how gorgeous are they you must check them out. I have had a play and love the result and would put this card into the category of a bit fancy. Without adieu here is Ruby's Candy Cane and Christmas Tree.

This card features the gorgeous Dress Up Marci. How pretty is she. I have used copics for the colouring and used cool greys for the shadows together with the blues. I made this for a dear friend who recently celebrated her birthday. I will also be entering it into the La La Land customer gallery for November.

New Techniques

I thought I would share some of the techniques we have been learning at Copics Class with Debra. Since my last post I now have some more examples of techniques we have learnt.

The first is monochromatic with shine

The next technique we learnt was to use 1 colour and your blender , this was a bit daunting because if your blender is not juicy enough well what can I say it just won't work. Here is my tag

I am quite happy with how this turned out, not bad for first try. The next technique learnt was defining faces. This one is hard and I am not sure that I have got it down pat yet but had a go and here is my tag using this.

Playing with Copics

I just cannot believe where the time has gone this year, it has flown so fast. I have been busy creating since my last post but havent got around to posting anything, very slack I know.

At the beginning of the year I joined a class of like minded ladies with the delightful and uber talented Debra James as our teacher and have been learning how to use my copic markers ,which I just love. I look forward to our fortnightly get together to learn new techniques and partake in a tag swap using the technique we learnt from the previous class.

Here are my two tags from the first two classes:

Through copics I have discovered digital stamps which is very exciting and already have a collection of digi stamps that I have purchased along the way. The great thing about digis is that you dont have to worry where you are going to find room to store them...lol.

Looking forward to our next class this Saturday and will add photos of my other tags very soon.

I have used a Magnolia stamp that I purchased from Bizzy Becs last year from their Christmas range, Secret Tilda. Isn't she just adorable. I thought that she was too nice just to use her just for Christmas so used her for a birthday card and she is coloured with copic markers. I am very new to the world of copics and am still learning how to use them . I am enjoying how therapeutic they are, the time just drifts away...lol.

My 1st post for 2011. Gosh it has been a while between posts. But now with Christmas over and being on summer holidays I have had some time to do some catching up and a lot of relaxing, unfortunately for me there are only 4 days left of holidays and I am back to school on Monday.

Scrappy Cow Retreat

Wow, can't believe it has been so long since my last post. I could go on about excuses but truth is that I have just been slack and preoccupied with other things and unfortunately the blog lost out.

Last month I went to Margaret River over the Halloween weekend for a scrapbooking retreat with Scrappy Cow in Margaret River. It was held at Australis and we all had the best time. Great company, great food and lots of scrapbooking.

Saturday night was dress up and Kareena and friends did a fantastic job with the decorating of our scrapping room.

Here is a snapshot of everyones efforts from the weekend.

I even managed to get some layouts done which was fantastic because I havent scrapped for ages.

It was really nice to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Margaret River Cow Parade!!

In May for the Mother's Day weekend I went down south to Margaret River to see Mum. Unbeknown to me Margaret River and surrounding towns had been invaded by Cows of the fibeglass kind.

The cows have been created by various artists and went on display back in March/April of this year and in July they will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to charity. Here is a link to the Margaret River Cow Parade. On the welcome page there is a link to all of the cows that have been created. I was only able to photograph a few of them. There has been an absolutely amazing the amount of thought, preparation and work that has gone into these beauties. They are all incredible. Anyhow here is a photo of the ones that I actually saw.

The work in these alone was fabulous. The Pharmooist Cow was covered in hundreds and thousands of different coloured plastic juice type bottle tops, huge amount of work. I took the photo from the street side as unfortunately some lovely person/s had picked off some of the lids from the otherside.

My most favourite cow was the Moothane Factory. All the parts moved and somehow they had connected it up so that everynow and then it spewed out methane gas, very clever.

I spent a lovely morning strolling up the main street looking at these creations and then in the afternoon my sister and I took Mum and Dad and my sister's Mother In Law to the Watershed Vineyard for a most delightful afternoon tea. It was a little chilly so it was very nice to sit behind glass walls with the warmth of the afternoon sun behind us.

A touch of Vintage!!

Over at Scraptivate they have a monthly challenge. This months challenge was Vintage. Here is my contribution to this theme. I have created an ATC.

I have used a little lace, some pearls, a hand made crocheted flower, a found pearl ended pin, an antique button that came from my MIL's button collection, and I have used shrinky with the new Tim Holtz die which has been highlighted with Treasure Gold - copper. I inked around the edge with frayed burlap and used a little more of the copper treasure gold.

Where has the time gone!

Wow! I can't believe it has been that long since I last posted. I haven't done a lot of crafting over the last month but I will share with you what I have done.

There has recently been another round of U Stamp with Dawn & friends this time using the Big Shot. There was as usual some very creative projects put forward and here is my take on just two of them.

This is my take a gorgeous project put up by Danielle Daws. It is a little picnic basket a perfect little gift box for that something special.

This little book is my take on a project by Natasha Zandbergen . It is perfect to carry in your handbag or as Natasha said in your glove box. Opened it has 2 little stacks of note paper that can be removed and used to leave a note.

Both of these projects used Stampin up products to complete including the Sizzix clear square scallop die and the top note die the for basket.

This gorgeous little basket is from the last round of U Stamp Spring Soiree which I have just finished. It is my take on a beautiful project by Kirsty Brown. I used a blue and brown theme for mine as I am going to

give it my Dad for part of his father's day present. I will fill it up with his favourite vege seeds and some gardening hand products, perfect.

I have also completed another week on the Gothic Arch Challenge at Inkurable Stampers. I am a little behind I think they are currently upto week 7 or 8 at the moment, but I have week 4 almost finished and with the school holidays just around the corner shouldn't take too long to catch up.

This was Makeesha's recent sketch challenge #27 which I unfortunately didn't have time to post before the deadline. This was for my MIL's birthday and I finally got to use the new Vintage Vogue stamp from Stampin Up. Just love how it turned out. All products used were from Stampin up with the exception of the g/g ribbon and prima pearls.

Mothers Day Card and Colour Challenge!

I have been wanting to make a Flowerpot Card for ages and with Mothers Day just around the corner decided it was the perfect opportunity. It also fitted in perfectly with this week's colour challenge # 21 over at Makeesha's blog, albeit just in time. The colours chosen work so well together, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Real Red and Whisper White and I really enjoyed working with them.

U Stamp with Dawn and Friends Spring Soiree!

Wow! The Spring Soiree over at UStamp with Dawn and Friends has started and the projects that have been posted so far are amazing. I couldn't possibly make them all over the next 4 - 5 weeks. So will be picking a few to make up, to start with. One of the projects posted is a beautiful Easter Purse and card set by Becky Roberts which I have made. It's not to late to join in either, just pop over to the website and sign up.

The purse I will be using as a special Easter Basket for my parents and of course the card to match. I just love that chocolate bunny stamp he is so cute.

Over at Just Add Ink this week their challenge #5 is all about adding dimension. I have been wanting to make the mini pizza box from Splitcoast Stampers for ages. So I did. I have used mainly Stampin up products. The box is so versatile you can use it hold a small gift or a set of cards. I am going to be using it with chocolates as a special thankyou. Over at Theme Thursday this week their challenge is Flower/s. Here is my contribution to this theme.

This week for our technique book 3 with Kelsey we worked with Bleach and Twinkling H2O's, so I have used this technique for this challenge.

Ingredients:

Red Bazzill C/S, Bleach, Twinkling H2O's, Cuttlebug die, Stamp It Antique Rose Rubber Stamp, Black Embossing Powder, Gold Krylon leafing pen, dictionary meaning, muslin, antique linen distress ink, gold eyelets.

These are the two ATC's I did in class using the bleach and H2O's:

Unfortunately they haven't photographed very well - will replace them later on. I normally scan them but it is not working atm.

The Stamps used for these are GPP. Black Bazzill CS, Bleach, Twinkling H2O's, clear embossing powder, German Scraps, gold eyelets.

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas Celebrations. We had a lovely day spent with family and extended family, it was nice to catch up and spend time together and the celebrations continued yesterday with more family. Inkspirations Colour Challenge # 16

Makeesha is running her new colour challenge. What a fabulous colour combination. I have always wanted to play along but never had enough papers etc. Well after doing 5 of 6 stamp clubs with Sarah I no longer have that problem lol. I spent a wonderful afternoon with my sister stamping and here is my take for the challenge:

Cardstock: Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie

At Theme Thursday this week it is Christmas Creation time. Albeit late here is my contribution towards this weeks theme.

For the background I have used Tim Holtz distress inks Peeled Paint and China Blue. I have then stamped with Black soot and then cover the stamp with Perfect Peals. I have used Forever Red, Forever Green & Interefence Green, Schwarkosky Crystals and German Scraps.

Advent Calendar!!

Gosh I can't believe that it has been nearly two weeks since I last posted...ooh wah the time has just flown. Anyway I have been busy creating. For a long time now I have wanted to make/decorate an advent calendar. I knew that it wouldn't interest my son as he way past that so after discussing it with the classroom teacher and getting the OK this is what I came up with.

Here are a few closeups

I used the new Kaiser advent calendar kit together with papers from the Kaiser Christmas Carnival collection. My tree is a Christmas decoration and the santa is a pick that I purchased from Spotlight and just removed the skewer from the base. I filled each drawer with a candy cane and a chocolate coin. When I presented it to the class yesterday the children were just delighted and couldn't wait until today to start the calendar.

A New ATC!!

This week over at Theme Thursday the theme is borders. I had fun playing along and here is my contributions to this weeks topic.

I have used black tissue paper crumpled up and pasted on a chipboard frame and rubbed over Treasure Gold -Green Amber. Under the frame I put frayed muslin inked with Pinecone ink. The background p/p was sprayed with Glimmermist - Wheatfields and a little pearl. The image was googled.

Over at SBFTH the blind scrap challenges have started up again. This fortnight it is Sue-anns turn. Here is my take. I really enjoyed playing along it seems like ages since the last one.

Favourite Colours!

I have to say that orange was not one of my favourite colours, but since doing ATC's I do like how orange turns out so it has become one of my favourites. Here is my contribution for this weeks challenge over at Theme Thursday.

I have used orange toned card stock and sprayed it with Tiger Lily Glimmermist, texture paste, cuttlebug diecut, gold rub n buff, black ink and German Scraps. Image is from Kelsey. I have used orange bling from Kaiser as ran out of crystals.

Here is my entry for this months challenge over at Black with Two. Requirements were dominant black, with pink, white, 3 chipboard elements and ribbon

I don't really scrap with a lot of pink so really enjoyed having a play this month. I matched the prima flowers to the azalea spray with glimmermist, paint and ink, so think it turned out well.

Scrapboxx Retreat at Meadowbrooke!!

Phew! Can't believe that it has been nearly 2 weeks since the retreat at Meadowbrooke. What a fabulous time. Two nights and two days of non stop scrapping and lots of chatting meeting new friends and catching up with old ones. Sheree and Evana inspired us with their fantastic classes and of course the challenges (to create something with virtually nothing). I am please to say that I completed all the classes and ended up coming home with around 10 layouts, 1 OTP and 3 completed challenges. We were spoilt rotten having the delightful Ash as our chef for the weekend, she cooked up a storm the food was amazing. The only down side to the weekend is that I discovered that I have hayfever. Never had it before in my life, unfortunately the venue had lots of Star Jasmine and it got to me by the 1st morning, thanks to Kim for the Telfast it saved the day.

Here are the challenges:  1. create a Christmas Ornament
                                                 2. make a card
                                                 3. a layout

The best part for me was that I only used the items that we were given in each pack and added nothing apart from paint and or ink and a chipboard letter.

We were also treated to two demos during the weekend as part of our compulsory break. Kareena from Scrappy Cow Margaret River showed us how to use glitter with the glue pad to embellish our pages and Maria showed us how to make her dodgy flowers lol, (omg how easy but with huge amounts of wow factor)

So totally awesome weekend and very much looking forward to August 2010 and the next Boxx Retreat....bring it on!!

Quick Update!!

Wow, were has the time gone. We are in school holidays here in Western Australia and towards the end of the last week, it is now flying. With only 1 sleep to go, tomorrow I am off to Boyanup (which is down south past Bunbury) for the Scrapboxx scrapbooking retreat. There will be around 26 of us and we will be scrapping and chatting all weekend. It will be so good to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

During the holidays there hasn't been much creating happening around here I have spent the time rearranging my creative area. The size of my space is around 1.7m x 1.9m approx, not very big but boy have I got it sorted now. DH and I went to Ikea the other weekend and purchased two expidit bookcases the 4 x 4 and a 2 x 4. I am still looking to how I can incorporate the new tall Alex just love that one. If I ever get a bigger area have already shown hubby my new desk lol. It has tall Alex's at either end and seats two people (I will have to dream for a little longer me thinks) I also got this week the Clip It Up! I have always wanted one but never had to right spot to put one so now I have got my alphas and rubons and bits and pieces hanging up and all very neat and with easy reach, soo cool.

This week I posted off my cards swap for the boxx: this month's theme was congratulations.

On Tuesday night I had my ATC class with Kelsey and this week we did crackle technique. Wow what fun that was. Unfortunately on the way home 1 of mine hadn't dried properly and stuck to the side of the tin, grrr so will have to redo that one for my book. Only a few more classes to go and we will be finished technique book 2, so will put my technique books into the gallery as soon as they are finished. Next year we are starting a new book with lots of new techniques so are really looking forward to that.

Well I am now off to print photos, finish my swap tags and do the housework, then off to lunch with a girlfriend.

Perfect Pearls with a flourish!

At Theme Thursday this week the theme is ATC with flourishes. Here is my contribution.

Last night I did a Perfect Pearls class with Kelsey at Scraptivate which was great fun and sprayed this background using a mix of Weathered Wood distress refill and Copper perfect pearls onto Buff cardstock. Today I played around and stamped a Technique Tuesday flourish (which unfortunately doesn't show up very well) on the rhs which I embossed and added the german scrap wing and image. The Collections frame has a hammered metal look which Kelsey showed us last night (very cool).

There hasn't been much creating happening over the last fortnight but hopefully this week I will get to finish all the bits and bobs that need finishing.

Witches and black cats time!

I feel a little like the white rabbit again from Alice in Wonderland....I'm late I'm late...lol. I have been trying to finish this little ATC all week for the Halloween theme over at Theme Thursday, so here it is:

I have used Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress Inks on a gloss background and stamped with the stamps from Stampers Anonymous Trick or Treat collection. The little picket fence is a new Martha Stewart punch that I have just bought . I have used a small silver spider in the top rhs corner and inserted a little bit of bling for its tummy.

Halloween is something that we don't do, but am quite pleased with the outcome.

Each month I participate in a card swap through the Boxx. This months theme was 'Thank You ' and we each had to make 10 cards. Mine have now been sent off and here is my card.

I used Bazzill cardstock with Kaiser bling and Penny Royale pp with chocolate ribbon and punched a lacy border out of bazzill bling. The stamp is from Stampin up and is on watercolour paper and coloured with stampin up inks.

I haven't done much creating in the last few weeks as I am still struggling with a cold that I just can't seem to budge. I count my blessings that it is not swine flu! The rain has started again and today it is quite cold so trying to keep warm.

At Theme Thursday this week the theme is quotes and sayings. For my contribution I have made a ATC and chosen a new stamp I have just acquired from Stampin Up which includes a gorgeous saying by Mother Teresa which I have highlighted using a Spotlight Technique (which I have just done with Kelsey.)

I have coloured in the flowers and background using marvy markers and blender pen and used black crystals.

Altered Book!!

On the Saturday of last weekend I had the priviledge of doing a workshop with Jenny Crossley at Scraptivate. What an inspirational lady, her work is amazing. We made the Swallow Book and it was my very first altered book (most definitely not my last). Wow what a day it was very much non stop and full on. We started at 9.30am, there was lots of distressing with paint, cutting, gluing and preparing etc. until it colminated into our finished books. I left at round 7.oopm that night and I can tell you I was completely exhausted. A huge thanks to Kelsey who arranged for Jenny to come to Western Australia. Here are some of the pages:

This week at Theme Thursday it i s 4x4's. My inspiration for my creation has come from the various workshops that I have done with Max & Audrey (these girls are so talented) and from the Graphics 45 paper that I used.

Stamps used are Judi Kins, Mickey Choo. Silver embossing powder, black ultra thick embossing enamel, stazon, collections chipboard and wording, german scraps, JW's copper wax, wire, beads, lace, ribbon, flower and key. Paper is Graphic 45 Communique.

Soot Technique!!

This week at Theme Thursday the theme is ATC's. Here is my contribution:

For the background I have used the new Tim Holtz alchol inks brights applied in stripes and then used the soot technique. The stamps used are Stampotique and the splat and wording is unknown. The 'wierd' is embossed with gold and edge of atc accented with metallic gold paint.

The soot technique is fun and is a new one that I have just learnt, so will have to play a bit more with that one.

The theme is pink and brown over at Theme Thursday this week and as my contribution I have made a vintage themed card.

I have used the new Kaiser papers Penny Royale for this along with Bazzill, some lace, Stampin Up's So Swirly and Short and Sweet stamps, Versamark Watermark pad, Stampin up punch Eyelet Border and pink cone ink. The image used was googled. I also used nestabilities Labels two.

Here is my contribution to this weeks Red and Black theme at Theme Thursday. Hulk and Rocky are the latest addition to my Stampotique Stamps and have been busting to use them. Also I have recently done a workshop on shrinkys and thought that Hulk would be perfect shrunk. Sorry it hasn't scanned as well as I hoped.

I have used a credit card technique for the background, painted corrugated card for accents and foil tape and metal letters. On the shrinky I have used black texture paste and flesh treasure gold to accent.

Torn Tendons //Broken Bones??

Omg! What can I say but disaster. We have just started our end of Term 2 school holidays and 1 day hadn't elapsed and my darling 16yo DS has damaged himself. He was out skateboarding with his mates on Saturday evening and fell heavily on his left foot causing torn tendons and possible breaks to top of his foot. (the complete outcome will be known next week when I take him for a CT scan). So today after having his foot partially plastered, poor love is devastated, feeling very sad and sorry for himself and of course he is sooo bored (lol). He will be in plaster for 2 weeks to start with and if it is broken it will be another 4 weeks in full plaster.

Consequently I haven't had time to do creative stuff, so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to complete my ATC with a red and black theme for this weeks Theme Thursday challenge and complete layouts for my LSS.

My flourish is from a stamp set called Parisian Market from Technique Tuesday and my image is googled. I have used China Blue and Peeled Paint distress ink on gloss card. A small piece of nylon flywire and german scraps which was rubbed with JW's copper.

This week over at Theme Thursday it is Tag Time. I have never made tags before so this we great fun. I have used the technique in Tim Holtz's latest video using distress inks and Perfect Pearls. I have actually had the Pearls for a long time and never used them, so thought it would be a perfect opportunity to drag them out and play. Here is my tag :

Sort of missed the boat on submitting this one at Theme Thursday last week. As I had a migraine on my day off (boo hoo) I didn't get it finished in time. Not to worry, all better now and have finished it.

I had lots of messy fun with this one. I have used texture paste on the background, then using Golden Paints Turquois (Phthalo), Quin Magenta & Iridescent Gold. I then sprayed with Patina Glimmermist all over and when dry used a Paper Artsy stamp over the top. I then used Treasure Gold Oxynite over the top as a high light.

The other weekend i did a two day workshop with the talented Maxine & Audrey and 9 other ladies at a lss. This week at Theme Thursday their theme is about sewing. All be it that mine is a tad late (week ends today)I have had a go. Dusted the cobwebs off the sewing machine, looked through my sewing box and this is what I came up with.

My image is from google, background is scanned image of pattern back which I sprayed with Patina Glimmer Mist. Added some pop studs, lace, some machine stitching and a sewing machine charm and inked around with pinecone ink. I experimented with the title by using my labelling machine (not sure how successful it will be).

New Collections Release!!

Wow, what can I say. They are very yummy indeed. Cannot wait to have a play, my lss said that the new releases will be in this week so can't wait. I was however very lucky to take part in a workshop just recently with a pair of very talented and amazing ladies Maxine & Audrey using collections products. The class ran two workshops one making a vintage tile and the other with white and pink (very nice). It was a shame I couldn't have done both. Here is the tile that I made. Just loved the techniques.

Scrapboxx Retreat !!

What a fabulous weekend was had. It was so nice to catch up with scrapping friends and to put faces to people I hadn't met before. The classes where amazing as usual, we got to use lots of new cha 09 products - very noice. It was fabulous to meet Karen Day and Nikala and to see Mardi and Sheree again. Maria did a awesome job again organising the retreat so that everything ran smoothly. I will post some pictures of the layouts I did very soon. I am so looking forward to the October getaway.

This year I decided I wanted to be a bit more creative and have always wanted to do ATC's. I have started classes with Kelsey at Scraptivate and boy what fun they are. At the end of they year we will have a fab technique book with lots of samples for each technique and also lots of new goodies added to my stash lol...

13 Days to go!!!

There are 13 days until the start of the Scrapboxx Retreat...yippee at Augusta. This will be my 6th retreat with them. It is the best fun, the classes are awesome using lots of new yummy product, this year we will be using new Cha releases...saw a sneak peak of some of the product yesterday -very exciting. It will be great to catch up with friends and meet new ones. Not a lot of sleep happens, just 3 days of scrapping and of course singstar until the wee hours.

I have finally started my tags all 53 one them so as we have a long weekend I am hoping that I will get most of them finished apart from the embellishing.

New Orchids

Just this week two of my orchids have come into flower. Because I have repotted a lot of them last year was not expecting flowers, so I was very excited to find these. The first one is a Colm. Wildcat " Magic Leopard" quite impressive and the other one is a Denrobe "Ellen Winston".

I have been a blog hopper for such a long time now, always in admiration of the beautiful work that is out there in blogger land, so decided the time is right - it is time to share. I love scrapbooking and cardmaking and more recently have started doing atc's, so I will post my creations and try to be a good blogger.
